Sunday Shopping / Trading World Wide
As we move into the 21st Century as some like to point out, I have to wonder if we aren't going  backwards instead of ahead. Can you actually believe that France is debating wider Sunday shopping? http://www.theglobeandmail.com/report-on-business/france-debates-wider-sunday-shopping/article1217535/
French President Nicolas Sarkozy's government has proposed a bill to introduce Sunday trading.

What in the world do we have governments? Aren't they there to look after us? I have to wonder why they continue to cater to big business. They seem to forget that at election time, when we have more votes than these large corporations have. Families are suffering all over the world. Our children aren't reaping the benefits of having a mother and father home on a Sunday. Some workers have not even had that chance to wonder what a day of rest would be like. Some would argue that we can rest on Tuesday etc. Why can't people shop Monday to Saturday - six days? So many other services are offered in five. I hope that the French people protest this, as this is the ruination of Family life as we see it. Some people have made comments to the effect that family day can be any day. Yes family day can be any day, but it sure helps to have one day off guaranteed to spend together. That used to be on Sunday. I wonder if President Sarkozy is going to open all of government services in France as well? It will be another sad day if France passes Sunday trading. Speak up retail workers in France!! Speak loud. A government is supposed to look after you, NOT to destroy you.
One has to wonder how we got into all this mess? The mess I'm talking about is the recession.  I read this article and agree with it 100%.
"We are more than what we buy" . Seriously this should ring bells for everyone shouldn't it? Have you seen anything good come out of Sunday shopping? Nothing good has happened. Governments take notice, a happy worker works even harder if they have that special time to spend with their families. Corporations don't see it and they don't care. It's a vicious circle where Corporations and governments mess with our lives and all for the greed of money. Come on  " France don't be a monkey see monkey do country" !
