It's important that we all take initiative and contact the Standing Committee on Community Affairs and Economic Development, as they are doing a review on Sunday shopping in Prince Edward Island. What bothers me most is the fact that people can't shop within six days and six nights a week, yet some feel fit to take the only day that mom and dads get to spend together with their kids.
The argument has come up over in PEI, concerning the Nova Scotia court decision. That makes me fuming mad, as the courts clearly show,by visiting this link. did not strike down Sunday shopping in Nova Scotia.

"Well, what this application is about is not about social or political considerations. It’s not about the appropriateness of Sunday shopping, nor is it about the power of the legislature to pass an Act dealing with Sunday shopping. This case, this application is about one fact and it is about the scope of the Cabinet’s power to pass Regulations pursuant to the Act."
I'm no rocket scientist, but it's clearly stated in the court web site that the premier in Nova Scotia lied to the public when he opened the flood gates to Sunday shopping. Rodney MacDonald claimed that stores could not be told when they can open or close, that the courts have made there decision. When the stores were allowed open for Sunday shopping,Holiday shopping was also allowed. Increased pressure from the public, forced the government to flip flop over allowing stores to open on holidays. You continually hear the argument that business owners should have the choice as to when they want to open or close. So, I ask you should we do away with minimum wage, vacation pay, pension and unemployment benefits, breaks and lunches? All these things are regulated by government. One has to wonder why retail workers are continually picked on. You never hear this question asked - Why is it ok for Tim Horton's to be open on Sunday, while postal delivery isn't allowed on Sunday? Don't make the same mistake PEI, like Nova Scotia did! Contact the Standing Committee on Community Affairs and Economic Development and say "NO" to Sunday shopping all year around!!
