Dexter Introduces Retail Holiday Closure
If this bill gets to a second and third reading, it could become law in Nova Scotia. But what a lot of people do not realize, and what I did not realize, is that to reach the second reading for any bill in the house, the current government must approve it.

I guess we learn something each and every day of our lives. How is this even a democracy? Darrell Dexter's private members bill should be debated in the house. Rodney MacDonald's government has no right to take away debate and our right to be home with our families on Holidays. What gets me about this whole issue is the fact that holidays are legal in this country. Ontario, Manitoba, Prince Edward Island all has legislation that forces large stores to close on Holidays and Sunday hours are limited. A supreme court ruling in Ontario upheld the Retail Business Holidays Act.

Ontario has nine public holidays
In Nova Scotia , the only day stores have to close is on Remembrance day which is forced to close by separate legislation. If we can close on Remembrance day, we can close for all holidays. Save Our Sundays/ Nova Scotians against holiday shopping is urging you to contact the government ,newspapers to force our government to allowing this bill to be read in the house and to become law.
It's very important that all facebook users that belong to CTV Atlantic Newstalk speak out on their discussion forum.

Nova Scotians Against Holiday Shopping
I was speaking this morning with the NDP cacus 1-800-753-7696 . NDP email - NDPCAUCUS@gov.ns.ca I asked them when the private members bill that Darrell Dexter has put forward will reach second and third reading to become law. She told me that it's up to the government as to whether the bill will be read or not. If we want this debated in the legislature we all must start putting pressure on Rodney MacDonald. Call Rodney MacDonald toll free - 1-800-267-1993 email - premier@gov.ns.ca Contact the Liberals and ask them to fight, to have this important private members bill passed. 1-877-778-1917 email - office@liberal.ns.ca I'm also urging you to call in to the hotline on CJCH radio with Rick howe, it's also a toll free number- 1-866-311-8255. Contact our local papers and write a letter- Chronicle Herald - http://www.thechronicleherald.ca/Feedback Daily News - http://www.hfxnews.ca/index.cfm?pid=3589 Lighthouse Publishing - http://southshorenow.ca/source/about/contact/index.php
