The Sunday shopping debate in Prince Edward Island isn't over. Until this year, retailers could only open on Sundays during the four weeks before Christmas. Former premier Pat Binns revised the law, extending that period of time so it began on the Victoria Day weekend -- the last Monday before or on May 24.

Prince Edward Islanders will have the opportunity to make it right and vote "NO" to all year around Sunday shopping or scrap the law all together. Scapping the law, will tell the rest of the country that PEI is a Monkey see Monkey do province. Not being able as a province, to make their own decisions, but copying other provinces, sends a wrong message. Our environment is in trouble and by allowing Sunday shopping all year around it is going to add more pollution into our atmosphere. Car emissions will increase and so will the traffic. In Nova Scotia today we all honored our VETS. Stores were closed today on Sunday because it's the only day, stores are forced to close here in Nova Scotia all year around. As I went for a walk tears came to my eyes, as I remembered a province that once stood still on a Sunday. There wasn't any traffic today, it was so peaceful. I can't understand why people want the rush, rush, rat race every day of the week. Prince Edward Islanders need to be aware of that our courts in Nova Scotia did not strike down Sunday shopping.
Our courts did not strike down Sunday shopping as so many are lead to believe!
Our premier Rodney MacDonald sold us all out. To get the ban back on Prince Edward Island, there are several ways of doing it. First off, is to speak out in letters to the editor, speak out on discussion forums on our web site or on facebook where there are several groups.
