The city of Sault-set-Marie in Ontario Canada has a debate on it's hands, whether stores should be allowed to open on Boxing day or not? Why not close all the stores down on all Holidays and Sundays?
Why should the privileged like government workers, MLA's,banks and millions of Canadians have the right to be home on these days? Today's out look on society will never change in the retail industry until we say enough is enough. Why doesn't our families matter any more? Why do we give the retail box stores and government all the power to take away family time? While they are off on Sundays and all Holidays.
Our planet is suffering due to emissions from cars. Lights are on in these stores seven days a week, all adding to the problem . I know I'll hear the argument, that we get emissions on Monday or Tuesday and why should Sunday be any different? These stores that are open on Sunday and Holidays, do add extra emissions with the extra traffic on the roads. It's like driving your car Monday to Saturday, plus driving an extra day . If all stores had to close on these days, it would promote family life at the same time saving our environment. Think about it? Are we all so addicted that we don't care about anything any more? It's a fact that there are no more sales by stores being open on Sunday. I have found that people are bored and this is why they are on the road seven days a week.
I'm not one of those people who have to live in any mall or any store on Sunday or any Holiday. We all need to see the light. I've seen it and glad I'm sticking to it. Families and our planet come first!
